Study Program Description
The Dance Arts Study Program provides an opportunity for the public to acquire quality artistic skills and knowledge of arts and culture and the best learning experience at the undergraduate level (Bachelor).
The development of science and technology, the dynamics of people’s living, and the cultural hegemony of various foreign cultures need to be addressed positively in order to encourage dance creativity that includes collaboration, multiculturalism, cross culture, diversity-plurality, and post-modernism in order to strengthen the nation’s cultural values. Conditions that developed in the era of globalization need to receive serious responses and studies, both in terms of artistic and scientific work.

Graduate Profile
Graduates who are able to apply cultural arts knowledge, artistic and reasoning skills, as well as transferable skills in order to identify, interpret, and analyze various phenomena of local or global arts culture in dance as:

  1. Creator/choreographer, who is able to create dance works that breathe the culture of Surakarta and the archipelago;
  2. Dance reviewer/analyst, who is capable of studying/analyzing various issues/phenomena of the life of Surakarta and archipelago dances;
  3. Presenters/dancers who are able to present various characters of traditional Surakarta and Indonesian archipelago dances.

Learning Outcomes
Learning is designed to achieve abilities, including:

  1. Assess/analyze various issues/phenomena of dance life;
  2. Ability to utilize the body as a tool and source of expression in various dance techniques and styles;
  3. Ability to master dance and dance theories and concepts;
  4. Ability to apply qualitative skills in dance analysis;
  5. Ability to master and be sensitive to various issues, developments, and characteristics of dance;
  6. Ability to apply qualitative skills in dance analysis;
  7. Ability to apply the results of his work, both scientific works and works of art, to stakeholders;
  8. Ability to understand the basics and various paradigms of dance culture;
  9. Ability of managerial and leadership skills; and
  10. Ability to develop cooperation and entrepreneurship.
